We had a great day at the Rensselar Russel House and Imaginarium today. We learned about simple machines and mills at the Imaginarium, and about the life in a house in the Victorian era. Hope these images spark some discussion tonight!

Prairie Rapids Crossing and Sturgis Falls
Today we had a great time at our First day of Museum School! If your child came home did not give you much information about the day you can ask the following questions.
What year did Iowa became a state?
What was the original name of Waterloo?
What was the original name of Cedar Falls?
What parts of the buffalo did the Native Americans use?
What was the most important part of the log cabin?
What was their favorite fact of the day?
Below are some fun pictures from the day!

My View at Work...
As I sat down today to read to the kids I had a thought... not everyone is blessed to interact with wonderful kids all day! I am very thankful for these kids and for the great start we have had to this school year! I have to say, my view at work is pretty awesome! Thank you parents for sharing your child with me!

A friend from Down Under!
Today we had a special guest! My friend from Australia came to visit with our class and talk about her continent. The kids learned some fun phrases and a lot about the culture and history of Australia!

Quilting Fun!
We have been quilting for the past two afternoons, and I have to say... they look AWESOME! We are all so thankful for the volunteers we have had so far! The kids are really starting to get a hang of this! (Maybe we have some future sewers in our midst!)
